#21 On something I've become pretty much obsessed about

And that thing is.

It's a sort of War/Drama thing on TV, we're only up to episode 1 in the UK at the moment. The States is finished, there are 7 episodes in total at about an hour each.

To be fair, I really don't know quite why I love it so much. Maybe it's the realistic dialogue, believable characters, compelling storyline, or perhaps something that I just-can't-put-my-finger-on. All in all, it makes to be one hell of a show to watch.
The story follows the 1st Recon Marine force on the first-wave of the American Assault on Baghdad in 2003. You really feel like you get to know the characters, and you empathise with them. You get as angry as they do at their incompetent officers too :P

You might be thinking, 'Why should I listen to Ashley, what does he know about television?!'
Well, for those of you that do know me, you know that I really don't watch a lot of television, because the general content of it is absolute rubbish. Which makes this even more srs business, because after seeing the pilot on Sunday, I actively went out to find and watch all of the episodes. (And its only Tuesday!!)

Just go find it; torrent it, rapidshare it, I really don't care.
You need to watch it.

On another awesome note, Sophie bought me some marzipan today!!!!
Made me very very happy indeed =]
Yay for marzipan. (See blog #18)

And I know, I know. Only one picture, I normally strive for two or more. But I'm not feeling very pictureish today. Also, apologies for the shortness, I'm super tired.

Oh, and grats to Matt.
He is success.

Have a good week peoples!

#20 A special one really, since I don't blog at the weekends

So I'm sitting here, typing on this laptop, watching James kick (mostly his own team's) ass. Well, this round anyway, I mean, he's doing more damage to his own team than to the horde of zombies. He's playing Left 4 Dead btw, an awesome co-op game from Valve about, well, its not really about anything, typical zombie survival horror tbh.
James is my stepbrother for those of you who don't know, and I'm currently in Tadley, a little way from Basingstoke.
On the agenda for the weekend:
Pub

Lol, that's it, that's all there is to do in Tadley.
I reckon that the most said phrase in the country probably is :Oh, and when I say country, I mean 'the country' as in, I've got a brand new combine 'arvester and I'll give you the key, so yeah, imagine that the tank in the picture is a tractor or something.
But my god, do they *love* like non-branded, home brewed beer here. Yesterday, for example, in a pub called 'The plough' or something, and all it seems that anyone was drinking was some dirty, behind the counter keg thing of 'Otter Ale', and I was like 'Becks please' and got shot some dirty look. But that might have been cause I was wearing my Hulk New Era cap :P
I was blates a London lad 'innit.

And now its like quarter to one, UK time, and I've basically just got back in. Guess where I went? :P

But we did go to see some of James' friends too. Was quite boring tbh, it was his mate + girlfriend, and then her sister + boyfriend. So really, just some crazy couples night in sort of thing, you know the sort, where you sit and talk about random shit that isn't really interesting, and generally do nothing. Oh, and drinking shitloads of wine seems like its par for the course. Although, not a big fan of the wine to be honest, and James was driving, so no vino for him. But to be fair, wine is an acquired tast I think, and is rather yucky on the whole.
And yes, that is a relevant picture, its the yucky wine that I didn't have.

Anyway, closing in on like 1.15am, so I'm off to sleep.

See you all when I see you =]

#19 On digging one's own grave, and other stuff (as per usual)

"Now come one come all to this tragic affair
Wipe off that makeup, what's in is despair"
Says the Gerard Wai.
And really, he's not that far off.

And lol, no, I'm not depressed.

I speak of course of my two exams in the next two days. Instead of revising, I decided that updating you all on my life would be a far better, and probably far more entertaining use of my time.
So really, I'm typing my own grave, not digging it.
And look. A fitting picture, i had to really look for this one :P

Apparently he is also, digging his own grave.

On a happier, and a lot less school related note. That party last Friday was awesome.
Had a really good time tbh. Specially when I got super duper high, and thought that the floor was so soft, that if I sat on it, it'd sorta swallow me.
The music could have been better (*cough cough*)
Oh, and props to Emily (who doesn't read my blog), and Sophie, who came with me so I didn't have to smoke on my ones.
Oh, of for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, the party kind of looked like this:I highly recommend that you click it for biggerness, so you can see how awesome it actually is.
It was Ellie and Cat's birthday party, for those of you who were wondering.

Oh, and by the way, started listening to Bob Marley like halfway through writing this one. I'm super chilled :P
But back to matters at hand, exams and such like.
Got English Lit tomorrow, and I'm not that prepared for it. I mean, don't get me wrong, I adore Milton's Paradise Lost, love the way it's written, and he couldn't have picked a more epic topic subject, but I know nothing about any of the critics for it, and for that, I'm probably going to be fail.
But lol, don't even get me started about psychology, I'm super fucked for that. The next day and a half are a super crash course in cramming for me :P

Anyways, peace out people. I've got Marley to listen to, and Milton critics to learn

Has a fun, k?

Oh, and

Stephen

#18 On washing cars, and stuff i'd do anything for

So I went to Asda today, at the request of Sophie. She decided she wanted yummy foods, and petrol, and such. So we bought our yummy foods (which I will come to later).
Sophie also decided that her car was too dirty, having not washed it since she bought it. I did, however point out to her that it is a 1st car, and they're supposed to look like crap.
Ok, well possibly not that crap. But you get what I'm saying.
So Sophie decided to use the car wash that Asda have there, and so we went. To be honest, it was really cheap, so what the hell, (we had wash number two if I remember correctly). It took like all of possibly 3 minutes to do, which is pretty speedy in my books. Sophie also said that she wants to have sex in the time it takes to go through an automated car wash. (srsly, don't write it down, you perverts :P) I could have kindly obliged, but since I'm NOT a sex obsessed douche of a guy, I didn't. Although she does still owe me sex (see blog #9), but those 28 business days have past, so its probably void by now. I did say to her though, that it'd have to be a pretty long car wash cycle for you to actually get some decent sex. In fact, you would both have to dive onto the back seat pretty much instantly, and all you'd manage to do in three minutes is get your average guy off (assuming that all men have stamina like mice), leaving no time for yourself, and the the car wash would be done, and you'd have to drive off.
So perhaps something to do before you die.
Maybe you'd get off on the naughtiness of it all, or something.

But yeah, pre car wash, I did get some yummy food, namely;
Chocolate Eclairs
and Marzipan

I am unashamedly a fucking whore for marzipan. And those of you that don't like it (becuase I know you exsist) can just go do one. I can (and sometimes do) eat the stuff by the packet. Its just too yummy. I loves it.

And if you go to wiki, and look for marzipan, it has this really cute picture of some marzipan pigs.

Now that. I want.

Oh, and good luck to all of you who are doing exams at the moment. Hope they all go well.

#17 On my first exams (this year)

And I think my psychology went:

That being a-ok for those of you who are blind, but still can read text, but not pictures.
Which I don't think is too many of you.
So it turned out that the few things I did revise, came up. Yayyy luck!

But now, I really should start revising for my exams on the 20th and 21st, cause I kinda have a loooooooong way to go with learning stuff for those.

So I said that I'd tell you how it all went, and I have. I don't really have that much else on my mind tbh (at the moment).
Oh, aside from that I'm currently obsessed with Studio Ghibli films.
My absolute favourite being Howl's Moving Castle.
Fucking amazing stuff, I'd suggest that you'd go watch it.
Apologies for the shortness btw.

Keep safe out there people.

#16 On exams, and a thing or two

Urgh.
Janurary is a yucky time, not only is it fucking freezing (Not quite as cold as where some people live, eh Estrid :P), but I have exams too.

And exams mean a few things for me, not revising, then cramming, and often drugs (well, often drugs is pretty much on the par for me anyway lol). But yeah, last minute stressing over exams I really don't want to do, since there are lots of things I hate, one of my biggest being institutionalized learning, and of course with institutionalized learning comes standardized testing (another one of my pet hates, nothing more useless than people telling you can, or can't do something, when obviously you are the judge of that)
So yeah, exams are useless.
This useless:But exams are not often as amusing as that.

I guess that updates will be slow(ish) for a bit, since I'll be pretending to revise and such.

That's all for now, got to go cram two units of pschology into the next two days, should be do-able I guess. I'll do another blog after my psychology retakes on thursday, and you'll know how they went by my general tone :P
Although, I may be high.
So you won't know.

And remember, take care out there, the wasteland can be a scary place.

#15 On Happy New 2009?

Actually. That title is a lie, since it's the only 2009 that were gonna get.
But yeah, happy new years followers, all seven of you.
And to people that read, but don't follow, a less happier new year, it doesn't take much to get a blogger account, and it'd be useful, since I'd then know who you are.

So anyways, New Years Eve was good, had a rave, people who were there, you know all about it. People who weren't, there are pictures on facebook or something.
So now, a picture, and from the 1st page of google images for the word 'rave'.
And that, was our party.
Various people got shitfaced, as they always do.
I wasn't one of the, which surprised the hell out of me, I was sure I was gonna end up on the floor.

And now, for the part of my blog, where I use my brain, and discuss things with myself, and really, I was thinking, what exactly is the deal with new years, I mean, why celebrate it at all?!
And the 'new year' that we have is only the new year in the Gregorian calender anyway.
And did you know, It took quite a long time before 1 January again became the universal or standard start of the civil year. The years of adoption of 1 January as the new year are as follows:
Country Start year
Venice 1522
Sweden 1529
Holy Roman Empire (Germany) 1544
Spain, Portugal 1556
Prussia, Denmark[6] and Norway 1559
France 1564
Southern Netherlands[7] 1576
Lorraine 1579
Dutch Republic 1583
Scotland 1600
Russia 1700
Tuscany 1721
Britain and
British Empire
except Scotland
1752
Thailand 1941

Also, wiki decided to leave some links in for you, so you can see all about the countries too :P

How quaint.

New years also plagues us with the concept of new years resolutions, things that you decide that you want to (but probably won't) do.
I've given up on making resolutions, unless they're fun ones. Like my one for this year, which is to have more fun.
Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you do a resolution.
And I have a feeling that I'm going to keep good to that one.

And while we are on the subject of fun. People say that you can have too much, now that I do not agree with. For example, Joe practically broke his calves (raving) at the new years party, but still managed to get to second base (for baseball metaphor's for sex, see blog #12), see, that's not too much fun, in fact, if you ask him, he probably won't comment. So there.
When I think of fun, I go google, and see what they suggest (I also have a picture quota to fill, 'cause just writing is boring).

Actually, no, some of that stuff is just weird, search fun on google images at your own peril people.
Strangely on the first two pages. A lot of maths related things.

But for all of you, wanting pictures, marvel at THIS:

Remember all those times people told you to go to pen island, you not knowing that it said penis land. Well, penis land is real everyone, and that, is my proof.

Anyway, no heating in my house + typing = numb hands.

Hoping you all have a good year and such.
